Takoyaki Pan
Name of item :
Takoyaki Pan
Function :
To help making takoyaki
How to clean :
Use wet and dry napkin to wipe it
A takoyaki pan or takoyaki-nabe is typically
a griddle made of cast iron with half-spherical moulds.
The heavy iron evenly heats the takoyaki, which are turned with a pick during
the cooking process to pull the uncooked batter to the base of the rounded
cavity. Commercial gas-fueled takoyaki cookers are used at Japanese
festivals or by street vendors. For home use, electric versions resemble a
hotplate; stovetop versions are also available.
Owning a takoyaki pan is a must for most Japanese
households, but for those who only occasionally crave these batter encrusted
seafood dumplings, having a kitchen appliance solely dedicated for one food may
seem like a significant waste of limited kitchen space (much like that
asparagus steamer sitting under your kitchen sink). But wait, you really can do
so much more than just make takoyaki with a takoyaki griddle. If you’ve got one
laying around, it’s time to dust it off for you are about to have your mind
explode with three incredible recipes that repurpose this classic Japanese
cooking technique.

Food Processor
Name of item :
Food Processor
Function :
To help blend food and make it paste
How to clean :
Use liquid soap and clean water to clean it, keep it dry.
A food processor is a versatile
kitchen appliance that can quickly and easily chop, slice, shred, grind, and
puree almost any food. Some models can also assist the home cook in making
citrus and vegetable juice, beating cake batter, kneading bread dough,
beating egg whites, and grinding meats and vegetables.
The food processor was introduced to
the North American market in 1973 by engineer Carl Sontheimer, who had spent a year adapting a French industrial
blender for the home cook. It took a few years for consumers to realize how
useful the new appliance could be, but once they did, the food processor became
a bestseller. Sontheimer's invention revolutionized food preparation in home
kitchens around the world.
The bowl, which is usually made of
durable, transparent plastic, fits onto this shaft and locks into position. The
lid, usually made of the same material, locks onto the top of the bowl; in many
older models, engaging the locking mechanism turns on the motor, but newer
models generally have an on/off switch or button.
The lid has a feed tube fitted with
a plunger. You can insert food into the device through this feed tube, pushing
it down with the plunger. Some models have wider and narrower feed tubes for
use with larger and smaller food items. The size of the bowl varies according
to the size of the machine:
·
Full-size bowls generally have a
capacity of 9 to 13 cups.
·
Compact-size bowls can accommodate 5
to 7 cups.
·
Mini-size bowls can fit 2 to 5 cups.
Some models come with large and
small bowls for use with the same base.
Masonry Oven
Name of item : Masonry Oven
Function : To grill pizza
How to clean : Use brush to clean it
A masonry oven, colloquially known as a brick oven or stone
oven, is an oven consisting of a baking chamber made of
fireproof brick, concrete, stone, clay, or cob. Though
traditionally wood-fired, coal-fired ovens
were common in the 19th century, and modern masonry ovens are often fired
with natural gas or even electricity. Modern masonry ovens are
closely associated with artisanal bread and pizza, but in the
past they were used for any cooking task involving baking.
The earliest ovens, known as “Earth Ovens”, were
manufactured in Central Europe. This kind of ovens is pit dug into the ground
and then heated prior to cooking various foods. Archaeologists found ruins of
ovens in which people were roasting boiling pits in order to cook mammoth. In
the region of Ukraine pits were found with coals dating from 20,000 BC. It is
believed that every house used to have mammoth bones used for heating and
cooking.
In Pre-dynastic Egypt, 3400 years ago, each house
used to have an oven in the center of the settlement. Using the technology of
Earth oven, the cooking process was confined to slow roasting of the food.
Many different kinds and bizarre ancient ovens have
been found by archaeologists but the history of the wood burning oven as we
know it today stems from Ancient Greece and the renowned “Clay Oven” or
“Ipnos”. Ancient Greeks turned cooking into art ever since front loaded bread
ovens were first developed by them. With the pass of time, Greeks developed
many different shapes of bread ovens that varied from one side of the country
to the other. A significant discovery of a portable ancient Greek oven dated
from the 17th Century BC is hosted in the Cycladic Museum of Art (see Image 1).
After years of research, scientists concluded that many families developed
bread making into profession as bread was prepared in houses by trained workers
and sold in the “Agora” (i.e. ancient market).
